The River Mouth

Fifteen-year-old Darren Davies is found facedown in the Weymouth River with a gunshot wound to his chest. The killer is never found. Ten years later, his mother receives a visit from the local police: the body of Sandra’s best friend has been found in a dry riverbed near a remote Pilbara road and her DNA matches the DNA found under Darren’s fingernails.

When the investigation into her son’s murder is reopened, Sandra questions what she knew about her best friend. She discovers there are secrets in her small community, and that her murdered son had secrets too.

The River Mouth will be published by Fremantle Press in October 2021.

Cast Aways

When a directionless but well-meaning university student steals two research mice from a secretive laboratory on a drunken night out, he hides them in a retirement village. He must find them a home before they are discovered or, worse, cause a deadly disease outbreak among the elderly residents.

Cast Aways will be published by Fremantle Press in September 2022.

The River Mouth is tautly plotted, brilliantly characterised and laced with venomous moments that lay bare a town’s racial histories.”
